This year marks the 180th Australia Day Regatta, making this the oldest continuously-conducted annual sailing regatta in the world. Why not be a part of it! Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club is hosting the 2016 Sabot Australia Day Regatta on Saturday 23rd January 2015, in conjunction with the Southern NSW Sabot Sailing Association and under the authority of the Australia Day Regatta Management Committee.
It promises to be a great event, with 1-up, 2-up and Green fleet sailors invited to attend. There will be free Aussie Day flags for sailors and spectators.
Entries are accepted via the TryBooking website: www.trybooking.com/114238
Notice of Race
Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club is located at Jamieson Park, The Esplanade, Narrabeen. See here on Google Maps.
The sailing instructions can be downloaded here. They will also be available on the official noticeboard at the NLSC clubhouse, but printed copies will not be available at the venue on the day.
Registration, presentation & BBQ
Registration will be held between 9.30am and 11am. Briefing will be at 11am, and the first warning signal not before 11.55am. Presentation will be held ASAP after sailing.
There will be a BBQ after sailing. Competitors will receive a free sausage sizzle and drink, and parents and spectators will be able to purchase food. We are not licensed, so please BYO alcohol and stay awhile to enjoy the company and our lovely lake and park surrounds.
The food at NLSC is fresh, yummy and inexpensive. Jenny will have a range of lunch, snack and drink options on offer all day.
Parking and trailers
Trailers must be unhitched and left in the designated trailer parking area. A member will direct you. The Jamieson Park carpark gets busy, but there is parking along sections of The Esplanade and 600m up the hill in Fuller Street and Colooli Road. You can unload boats and gear in front of the clubhouse.
Parking is metered in Jamieson Park, but we have 25 parking permits for competitors which will give you free parking all day. See the friendly faces at the rego desk.
Sabots and spectator boats
A rigging area will be set up on the grass beside the western boat ramp in front of the clubhouse. If possible, berth powerboats on the beach near western boat ramp. We only have a small beach so please be aware of swimmers and SUP boardriders when launching, berthing and returning to the beach.
